5 Spotify Playlists to Put You in a Fall Mood

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cal Poly chapter.

Music has the powerful ability to evoke a wide range of feelings. From joyful to nostalgic and more specifically, to fall. If you’re looking to expand your music library and get into the seasonal spirit through music, we have a couple playlists to suggest for you.

1) “Quintessential Fall Playlist” by @Cassidy Watt

This playlist, as the title suggests, is comprised of the ultimate fall songs. Fall is a time of cooling weather and cozy nights, reflected by calm, acoustic-sounding songs such as “Autumn Town Leaves” by Iron & Wine, “Wasteland, Baby!” by Hozier, and “Bambi” by Clairo.

2) “Autumn in New York” by @Katy Hynek

If you’re into older classics, “Autumn in New York”, named after the song by Billie Holiday, is just the playlist for you. It also features mid 20th century songs like “Our Love is Here to Stay” by Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong. This playlist can transport you back in time with a simple press of the “play” button.

3) “Rainy Autumn Days” by @abbi_is_the_coolest

For the inevitable rainy days, use this list, which includes “Beach Baby” by Bon Iver and “we fell in love in october” by girl in red. The vibes are quiet and comforting, and can be reminiscent of a melancholy chilly day.

4) “Classical Fall Vibes” by @Lillian dreams

Instrumental music can perfectly capture the mood of the season. This playlist features classics like “Clair de Lune” by Claude Debussy and Chopin’s “Nocturne No. 20 in C-sharp minor”, while also introducing pieces from the last couple decades, like “Reflections” by Toshifumi Hinata.

5) “Fall Feels 2021” by @Filtr US

Both Adele’s new album and Taylor Swift’s re-record of Red will be released this November, adding to the sentimental, nostalgic “sad girl autumn”. As the title suggests, this playlist is full of songs to put you in your feels, including the aforementioned “Easy on Me” by Adele, as well as “Avalanche” by James Arthur and “as long as you care” by Ruel.

If any of these playlists stand out to you, hit “shuffle” and enjoy the fall vibes!
