Introduced in the 1940s by fashion designer Louis Reard, the bikini was shocking to the post-modern society.

Bikinis are very common and popular today, but not everyone feels completely confident in them. However, body positivity is the key here. Body positivity is not about loving your body all the time and trying to always see it as “perfect;” this is difficult to do as everyone has insecurities. Rather it is about changing your attitude to work toward accepting your body as it is and appreciating what it does for you.

Bikinis are for everyone. You have a body? Great, you can put a bikini on it! No such boundary exists when it comes to wearing one. The two-piece swimsuit should make you feel nothing but confident, sexy, and charming. Today, there are countless bikini designs that are available for you to choose from according to your style, some of which include: microkini, high-waisted bikini, fringe bikini, tankini, and many more.

It is important to know that everybody has a “bikini” body. People of any height and size can wear them and today a growing number of fashion brands have slogans that reflect the importance of having clothing sizes and representations for everybody.

Good American, a clothing brand founded by Khloe Kardashian, has a slogan of “Representing Body Acceptance.”

This article is by no means meant to encourage readers to wear bikinis if they don’t want to! If you don’t feel comfortable wearing swimsuits that expose your body, it is completely your choice to make. The goal of this article is rather to alleviate the stereotypical belief that bikinis are only for certain people. It does not matter what you look like because if you feel like wearing a bikini, then now is the time to wear a bikini! Millions of people have chosen to wear bikinis at least once in their lifetime and there is no need to feel intimidated by stereotypes. After all, it’s just clothing. Hopefully feeling more free with fashion choices will help you to build self-confidence.
