Recently, my playlists haven’t been making me happy. The songs I used to love have become overplayed, and I’ve been looking for something more. In an effort to find something that would get me excited about listening to music again, I decided to deep-dive into the endless wealth of premade Spotify playlists. Spotify’s playlists tend to be hit-or-miss, but I think I’ve found the best of the best.

Homework Vibes

This is the perfect playlist to increase productivity. It’s full of beautiful and fun soft pop songs that are easy to have on in the background while you work. Many of the songs are familiar enough that they capture your attention, but not so exciting that you feel the need to fully listen. It’s great for getting things done other than homework as well, like cleaning your room or even walking to class. Anytime you need a little boost of productivity, reach for this playlist. Some of my favorites from this playlist include “Easier” by 5 Seconds of Summer, “8 Letters” by Why Don’t We, and “that way” by Tate McRae.

Pumpkin Spice

If you’re looking for cozy fall vibes, look no further than this playlist. These songs pair perfectly with a brisk autumn morning and maybe a latte. Listen to this playlist while walking around campus taking in the foliage, studying in the coffee shops, or just hanging out in your room. Maybe put this playlist on while you decorate for Halloween. Some great picks from this playlist are “exile” by Taylor Swift, “Human” by Daughter, and “Follaton Wood” by Ben Howard.

Wanderlust

This playlist can be used for many things. If you’re feeling stuck in your routine, like you need a change of scenery, or just that you need to go for a drive, reach for this mix of soft acoustic tracks. I listened to this playlist one evening around sunset, just wandering around campus for an hour or so, and it was honestly magical. Some highlights from this playlist are “Pierre” by Ryn Weaver, “Scotland” by The Lumineers, and “Rosyln” by Bon Iver and St. Vincent.

The Lovely Little Playlist

This playlist is hard to describe, but it’s amazing. It’s full of simply pretty songs to listen to whenever, wherever. If I had to choose a situation where one would need this playlist, I would have to say that sitting on the green with a cup of tea is probably the best example. But honestly, this playlist is just great for any scenario. If you’re bored of your normal music, check this list out. Highlights include “Hot and Heavy” by Lucy Daucas, “Cheer Captain” by Charli Adams, and “Lucky” by Zeph.

My Life is a Movie

If you’re looking for a main character moment, then this is the playlist for you. Songs from many different decades give this playlist some depth, and all of the songs are amazing. Who knew that a playlist could contain both “Vienna” by Billy Joel, and “Enchanted” by Taylor Swift? This playlist can be listened to anywhere, but I enjoyed lying in the grass in the middle of Chapel Green listening to it.

All of these playlists are great options if you’re looking to spice up your music library. The best part is, they are all a few hours long and are constantly being updated, so you shouldn’t ever get bored of them. Happy listening, Camels!
