NCT 127: The group that you’ll want to add to your playlist right now

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Winthrop chapter.

Recently, NCT 127 debuted a new album titled “Sticker” on September 17th. The long awaited album featured 11 incredible tracks including my personal favorites “Breakfast” and “Bring the Noize.” NCT 127 is a sub-unit of NCT, also known as Neo Culture Technology. NCT is known for their versatile music as they often release songs that fall into a variety of different genres including rap, hip hop, and pop. To celebrate the new album release, I am sharing with you 7 different songs you should check out to truly grasp how multifaceted NCT 127 has been in the past.

1. GIMME Gimme

Between the electrifying background music and the catchy chorus, you’re sure to be adding this song to your playlist your first time listening to it. This song perfectly matches with the overall vibe of the Loveholic album. NCT 127 delivers in this track from the unexpected transitions during the music video to the surprise rap performed by Johnny.

2. PUNCH

This song is the exact reason why NCTzens crown NCT 127 with the title of ultimate performer of “noise” music. The track, like its title, starts off with a punch accompanied by a sped-up video game background sound. Lots of whispering help to elevate the tension of the song as you feel like you are actually a fighter getting ready for a big fight.

3. Kick it

This song is so catchy that the whole KPOP industry still dances to it even though it was released over a year ago. The martial arts based song allows for an impactful mix of the vocal line and rap line. The ad-libs and swift dancing only add to the fact that you will want to listen to this song on repeat.

4. Cherry bomb

I could not list NCT 127 song recommendations without including the iconic “Cherry Bomb.” This hit, which boasts over 140 million views on YouTube, remains one of NCT’s most popular songs. The memorable lyrics and exhilarating beat will surely have you wanting to replay the song over and over again as you rap along to the chorus.

5. Elevator (127F)

If you want to feel like you are the main character in a coming-of-age movie, you need to listen to this song. With the upbeat pop feel, you will wonder if you have just walked out of an elevator into an episode of Friends. The vocal line dominates this song alongside the fun background sounds including an actual ding of an elevator. This song is definitely one of my go-to tracks.

6. MAd city

One of the more underappreciated b-sides, Mad City is a perfect example of the impactful duo that is Mark and Taeyong. This track is primarily composed of quick rap verses paired with Jaehyun’s background vocals. Seeing this song performed live was quite honestly one of the best moments of my life.

7. no longer

If you want to be your feels, then No Longer is definitely the song for you. Although it is more on the sad side, NCT’s vocal line absolutely delivers in their range and emotion throughout the track. You will surely leave surprised by Taeil’s high notes and wanting to hear more of what 127 has to offer.
