My Experience With CBD- The Elixir of the Gods

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CWU chapter.

Being someone that has anxiety, I have exhausted all measures when it comes to decompressing. I have tried yoga, meditation, and even running to calm both my body and mind. The only issue with those I found was the results were temporary. I was not feeling completely relaxed when I did thirty minutes of pilate-based yoga or ran three miles while listening to music. My grandmother was the one that pushed me towards trying CBD oil. She has been using it for three years and I decided, if it works for her, then I should at least give it a shot.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is defined as: a naturally occurring compound found in the resinous flower of cannabis, a plant with a rich history as a medicine going back thousands of years.

This is not to be confused with THC although both have similar effects. When CBD is used, it calms the body similar to THC, but it does not provide the person with an altered state of being.

After conducting my own research and watching numerous Youtube videos, I settled on the brand Vital Leaf. They have tinctures (oils) ranging from 500mg to 1,000mg and come in chocolate mint and rose cardamom vanilla. I purchased the 500mg rose cardamom vanilla-flavored tincture for $45 and it lasted me almost 6 months. The taste is not overpowering but if you find it to be too much, I highly recommend dropping it in your coffee.

What were my results?

After using this product for over a year, I can honestly say it worked very well for me. I was a bit skeptical at first because it seemed a bit pricey for a “test run.” I wasn’t sure how some oil would help me get out of bed and walk into a class full of 20 plus people, but it did. It was a bit slow in the beginning because I was still trying to get used to how many drops I needed and when the perfect time to take them was, but eventually, I learned my routine. I am not one for medication because, for a long time, that is all the doctors would give me. I would explain what was going on and they would just throw another prescription at me and say, “good luck.” This product gave me a balance. I was not relying heavily on the oil, but it was there when I needed it.

Who would I recommend this to?

Everyone. I would seriously encourage anyone that suffers from anxiety or even things that are physical like arthritic pain to test out CBD oil. It may seem a bit pricey, but you could also go for a cream or even edibles that have 0 THC and just have CBD. This product helped me so much and I am hopeful that it will help you too.
