The 5 Best Fall Flicks Netflix has to Offer

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UTSA chapter.

With the fall season in full swing, it’s time to prepare the right way. Aside from everything pumpkin spice, winding down is the best way to prepare for this upcoming season. From small-town vibes to haunting horrors, these 5 binge-worthy shows will surely get you prepared for this season.

1. ‘American Horror Story’ (2011-Present)

Since 2011, AHS has been the perfect entrance to the Autumn season! Following several different themes and storylines, AHS has a season for everyone. This shows more popular seasons seem to be early on “Coven” and “Murder House” which give off just the right amount of a sinister fall feel.

2. ‘Gilmore Girls’ (2000-2007)

Let’s be real, who hasn’t dreamt of living in a tiny town surrounded by that warm community feeling? Mother and daughter duo, Lorelei and Rory Gilmore, star in this feel-good family show that will make you wish you were right there in Stars Hallow with them. Looking to enjoy copious amounts of coffee with your community? Then this show is the perfect vibe for you.

3. ‘Monster House’ (2006)

Though near terrifying as a kid, I have grown to find this movie perfect for that nostalgic fall feeling. With Halloween approaching fast, three kids brave a neighboring house that nobody dare enter before. These kids work together to take down the neighborhood’s haunting house before Halloween approaches.

4. ‘The Haunting of Bly Manor’ (2020)

Released last fall, The Haunting of Bly Manor carries that certain spooky vibe everyone longs for this time of year. Following a young nanny caring for orphaned children, Bly Manor is anything but normal. Looking for a show to keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish? The Haunting of Bly Manor is a perfect fit for you.

5. ‘Stranger Things’ (2016-Present)

What is fall without this newly traditionalized classic? Releasing in 2016, Stranger Things has taken over the Fall season. Following a group of mischievous middle school friends, this show will have you feeling as if you are right there in Hawkins with them. Giving us that nostalgic 80’s feeling (despite never living through it) this show will have you glued to your screen for days.

I am a 20-year-old junior attending UTSA. I am majoring in criminal justice in hope of attending Law School to become affiliated with criminal law. As this is my major I love all things crime, such as true crime podcasts and shows like criminal minds, and law and order svu. I am also a huge bookworm and enjoy reading anything and everything.
