Halloween Costumes You’ll Definitely be Seeing in 2021

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USF chapter.

Halloween is one of the most beloved holidays for many college students. Serving as a reminder of a carefree, sugar-filled, childhood celebration, it is a chance to transform yourself for the night (or the entire Halloweekend) and let loose. This holiday is spoken about for months before it even occurs, with the month of October now referred to as “spooky season”.

In the time leading up to the big night, many young adults begin to plan their detailed costumes, flocking to Spirit Halloween weeks in advance. A great costume is essential for any Halloween party. If you’re in need of inspiration, look no further – I have compiled a list of those I believe will be seen all around this Halloween!

  1. Fairies

You will definitely be seeing a few fairies this spooky season – and I would be lying if I said I wasn’t planning on doing this one myself! A pair of cute, bright wings and a little pastel slip dress would look beautiful, complete with some shimmering tights and a little glitter in your hair! Dress up with your girls or rock it solo.

  1. Mystery Incorporated (Scooby-Doo)

While this bunch has always been a Halloween classic, I think we will see many more this year! The diversity of the group makes for a perfect group costume, and many have already shared their plans to give Fred, Velma, Daphne, Shaggy, and Scooby a modern twist.

  1. Powerpuff Girls

While the Powerpuff Girls continue to be adored by many young adults, it’s safe to say we will see many trios in these adorable green, pink, and blue ‘fits. Make sure to save all of the Powerpuff Girls TikTok audios if you decide to be Bubbles, Buttercup, or Blossom!

  1. Bratz Dolls

Similar to Powerpuff Girls, you are likely to find many social media accounts adoring a profile picture with a Bratz Doll. The creativity range you have with this costume makes it perfect for any college student who wants to dress up with a little glam. Wear a graphic tee with the logo and pair it with your favorite skirt, sunglasses, boots, and boa, and you’re good to go!

  1. Cruella de Vil

The Cruella movie came out this year, and with it came many conversations about the character. This leads me to believe we will be seeing many college students killing it in her outfit, and I can’t wait to see the results!

21. Fourth year student at the University of South Florida, majoring in Biology and pursuing a career in veterinary science. Lover of animals and hockey.
