The Harry Chronicles

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at TAMU chapter.

September 13th was supposed to be the day I was looking forward to for two years – it ended up being one of the saddest days of my life.

If you know anything about me, you know I absolutely love Harry Styles. I loved One Direction in 2012 and just have not stopped. My dad thinks it is a phase, but I hate to break it to you – it has been ten years of this. I am the girl that saw One Direction every time they came to Houston and was lucky enough to see Harry on his first tour. So, when Love on Tour got announced, I made sure I got tickets.

The tickets went on sale in 2019. That is the same year I had to go through one of the hardest (and only) breakups I had been through. As cliché as it sounds, the one thing that got me through that heartbreak was Harry’s music, and knowing I had tickets to see him made it even better.

Without realizing it, I was no longer moping about what could have been. Instead, I found a new passion, new friends, and I became a whole new person. I truly do not think I could have done that without the motivation of Harry Styles.

Fast forward to 2020, COVID-19 hit. Even though the concert was not until August -and it was barely March- I knew it would probably get canceled. After getting moved to September of 2021, I once again had another thing to look forward to.

Finally, September 13th came. I had my outfit planned, the hotel booked, and I was on my way to Houston. It was then I got news of a possible hurricane hitting right when the concert was going to let out. I had watched countless videos of the previous concerts. And right when we arrived at the venue, I got the heartbreaking tweet, “sorry Houston, we have to postpone.” The whole line to get in when silent, and the rain was not the only thing running down the fans’ faces.

The ride back to College Station was a sad one. “Falling” was playing on repeat for most of it. As much as it hurts, I know that I will get my chance to see him again one day, and I hope everyone that got to attend had the best time ever. Until we dance again, Harry.
