After settling into your new dorm or rental, you may want to start adjusting to campus life. Thankfully, UVIC, The UVSS, and Vikes Athletics have some great activities this week! If you’re looking for a study break during the first week of classes, look no further – below is some fun events for that well-deserved time off!

Free pancakes on your first day of classes!

Forgot to eat breakfast on your first day? Have no fear – the UVSS is hosting a free pancake breakfast for all students! Vegan and gluten free options will be available. Come visit the SUB the morning of September 8th to grab your plate!

Catch a movie in the Quad

This year for campus kickoff the UVSS is setting up “Raya and the Last Dragon” in the Quad! From sitting back after the first few days of classes to Cinecenta popcorn (the best popcorn) available by donation, this event is a great time to relax with your new roomies! Viewing starts at 9 pm on September 9th.

Check out the beaches around campus

One of the best things about the University of Victoria is the location! In just a 15 minute walk you can study, read, or hang out at Cadboro Bay. With breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and ocean, it is a great way to escape the bustle of campus.

Get vaccinated!

In order to promote vaccination for students and faculty visiting campus, UVIC has organized pop-up vaccination tents on campus! You can visit the one just outside Bibliocafe from Tuesday to Thursday or check out the Vax van at Thunderfest! Speaking of Thunderfest…

Thunderfest!

Friday September 10th is jam-packed full of activities provided by Vikes Nation! From fun activities in the quad from 12-4 (hellooo free stuff!) to an adrenaline-filled soccer game later that evening, this event can not be missed!

After a jam-packed first week of classes, it’s important to rest for the week ahead. Stay safe, well rested, and hydrated/fed for a great start to the semester!

Savannah is currently in her fourth year at UVic majoring in English and Business! When not swamped with readings, she can be found exploring downtown, drinking way too many pumpkin spice cold brews, reading, and enjoying the experiences UVic has to offer.
