What the HC Team is obsessed with online this week (other than HerCampus.com!)…

  1. Facebook and dating— why are these two so intricately linked? Even if we complain about it, it seems that’s the way it is with those cutes-y wall posts, pictures tagged of each other, and maybe even a Facebook relationship. But what do you do after the breakup? [New York Times]
  2. There is something very High School Musical about this and it’s great. Gennifer Delman explains, “I LOVE lipdubs! They are so fun to watch and probably way more fun to make. For anyone not familiar with lipdubs, they’re videos that combine lipsyncing and audio dubbing to make a music video. [Youtube]
  3. Think magazines today give women too much advice? Um, think again. Hysterical clips of advice for single ladies…in 1938 [Sad and Useless?]
  4. And you thought your shoes hurt. Joanna Buffum explains “this slideshow is a “Crazy Shoe Gallery,” with everything from Alexander McQueen’s shoes worn by Lady Gaga in her Bad Romance video, to flip flops with a hollow sole that functions as a flask.” Hysterical. [Splendora]
  5. Looks like Queen Latifah is on Team Jacob! Katie Sanders cheers the Queen on at The People’s Choice Awards! “I’m glad I’m not the only one who has beef with RPatt. Go Queen Latifah.” [YouTube]
  6. Did you know that “I’m On a Boat” was nominated for a Grammy? Rachel Cieri loved this article that “explains the reasoning (or lack thereof) behind” the SNL songs nomination. [Time]
  7. Hey there all you Gleeks! Kathleen Corlett recommended a video for you. “I wish I could be involved in something so cool as a flash mob dance — bustin’ a choreographed move or two with 20+ other enthusiastic individuals in a very public area. Check out this one in Rome to a medley of Glee tunes! Did I mention I’m a major Gleek myself? :)” [YouTube]
  8. “Not only am I a huge fan of Tammy Tibbetts and the nonprofit work she has done, but she wrote a letter to her industry role model, Ruth Whitney (former Editor-in-Chief of Glamour magazine),” Taylor Trudon explains about this article. “Even though Ms. Whitney passed away in 1999, Tammy used the letter to tell her how Ms. Whitney’s mantra of “style and substance” inspired her.” [The Huffington Post]
  9. Recent in the news, Victoria Uwumarogie explains, “there was a very sad yet interesting story about English model Katie Piper, who had acid thrown in her face by an ex-boyfriend she met on Facebook. It’s actually very empowering how Katie tries to get on with her life, and it’s definitely a reality check on the dangers of meeting and dating people online, especially on Facebook since it’s becoming the norm.” [AOL Health]
  10. “I loved this article in Marie Claire, because it proves that women can seriously be anything they want to become. It shows the strengths that women can reach, that are sometimes doubted. This was a just a great inspirational article for women who want to play rough with the men, while wearing their favorite lip gloss at the same time!” said Victoria Guerrera. [Marie Claire]
