Sweet Valley High Grows Up

I love books and my love of books was probably catapulted by two of my favorite childhood series’ — The Babysitters Club and Sweet Valley High. I’ve even blogged about my obsession before on the Writers’ Blog!

I was so excited to hear some more exciting news about Sweet Valley High that I just had to share with my HC girls! No, not about the upcoming film that Diablo Cody (Juno) is writing but about a new book in the series!

Talk about a super special — this book fast-forwards gorgeous twins Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield ten years in the future (so I assume somewhere between 26-32, not sure if they are fast forwarding from the Sweet Valley University days). Either way it’s exciting.

Francine Pascal, the author who created the prolific series, is writing this chic-lit book that I am DYING to read. Aren’t you?

Unfortunately the book doesn’t come out until March 2011. And my usual policy with HC Approved! is to test out everything first. But this is one of those things that, for fans, will be good. Even if the book is awful, fans, like myself, will enjoy it because they want to know what happened to Elizabeth and Jessica.

Some lingering questions I have…
–    What is Lila Fowler up to? Did she marry a rich guy and continue to live the life her dad provided for her?
–    Is Steven Wakefield still a goofball? I imagine him like a Jason Segal-esque character…
–    Is Enid Rollins, Elizabeth’s best friend, still kind of a wet blanket? Sorry but she was lame.
–    Did Jessica marry Winston Egbert, the other goofball who always crushed on her?

Now, if only Ann M. Martin would follow suit…

What are you still wondering about? Are you excited?? Weigh in below!
