In my opinion, of the best things about summer is reading by the pool/at the beach. This summer, I made a commitment to re-read some old classics and to discover some great new reads. Here’s a list of what I’ve read so far. Any suggestions for what I should read next?
Book 1: The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby is a true classic. I hadn’t read about the trials of  & Daisy since my freshman year in high school. I figured that it was time for me to revisit the splendor of Gatsby’s summer parties in NY. I loved this book the second time around much more than I did back in high school. If you haven’t read this in a while, go pick it up – you’ll be happy that you did. Â
Book 2: A Farewell to Arms.Â
This book just made me depressed. While well written (it’s Hemingway – duh), the ending of this book is the biggest let down of all time. I put it down and felt terrible. Don’t pick this one up unless you feel like crying.Â
Book 3: The Meaning of Sunglasses
Hilarious. Genius. Partially Incorrect but okay because it’s so darn funny. This book, written by an editor for British Vogue, is a smart and sassy commentary on the fashion and fashion journalism industries. While I don’t agree with her on all points (she thinks that thongs are torture devices??), the book is very well written and highly entertaining. Perfect for a beach read if you’re tired of romance novels and want to feel a bit more educated about all things fashion.Â
