Founders’ NYC trip: ASME intern lunch!

Yesterday, we got to host a lunch for the American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME) Interns.  The ASME Intern Program is the most prestigious magazine internship program in the country- they accept very few students across the country (24 this year) and place them in editorial internships at top magazines.  (3 of this year’s 24 interns are HC writers- amazing!  Scott Rosenfeld, Kelsey Garvey, Bernadette Anat)  The internship is supplemented with special guest speakers and events with the other ASME interns.  I was an ASME intern last summer and was placed at SELF magazine!  If you are considering a career in magazine journalism, definitely look into applying to ASME when you are a rising college senior- it’s an incredible program!

We were so excited to be one of the magazines ASME selected this year to host a lunch for the interns.  ASME was nice enough to let us host it in their offices since we don’t have our own office space in NYC!

We told the interns all about HC, how and why we started it, and what we’ve done with it in the past 10 months since our launch.  Then we answered their questions and gave them some tips on starting something of your own in the digital media space.  We hope many of them will apply to start a Her Campus branch at their schools!!

Here we are setting up for the lunch!

There were some leftovers from the lunch so we saved them for later- we’re on a tight budget!!
