Animal Instinct: How to Rock the Leopard Trend

Fall fashion’s affair with leopard print has bewitched everyone from Rachel Bilson to Jennifer Lopez. As temperatures creep down into autumn territory, we can finally begin showcasing this season’s fiercest trend on campus.

While it appears tricky, working animal print is achievable. Don’t let the tragic memory of a zebra-print faux pas stop you from heeding the call of the wild. Play your spots well, and you’ll be slinking around in no time.

Suggestions for real-life exhibition:
Keep proportions in mind: Such an eye-catching print offers little wiggle room on fit. Too much volume can be distracting and dowdy instead of posh. Excessively tight or clingy brings your ensemble away from classy and into catastrophic. (Similar to that pun)
Flaunt your assets: Just as no two leopards share the same pattern, what suits your mate may not work well for you. Flatter your unique figure by drawing the eye up with a leopard top, sporting leopard heels to elongate toned legs, or cinching an enviable waist with a leopard belt. Wrapping up in a scarf is a chic option to offset wide hips and compliment feminine shoulders.
Balance your spots out by pairing them with neutral accessories in colors like camel and black, or opt for a tasteful red accent. If you’re going head-to-toe leopard, your hair and makeup should not compete for the focal point. Read: Red lips and poufed hair are too much for an already statement-making outfit. Risky.
Adapt the trend to you: Fashion should make you feel confident, and it’s a surefire miss if your discomfort is detectable. Not inclined to go full-on feline? Spice up your wardrobe with a pop of leopard footwear or an accessory; both are still certain to inspire carnal lust.
