A Fond Adieu and Farewell

This is a sponsored feature. All opinions are 100% from Her Campus.

Before I bid you all adieu, my favorite HerCampusettes, I thought I would give you the low-down of how my marvelous month of fitness and healthy living has been!

The first thing I wanted to do this month was clean up my diet.  I knew what eating healthy entailed, but sometimes I found myself gravitating towards unhealthy foods anyway.  My goal was to cut out refined sugars from my diet (like white breads, and desserts) and eat sensible, portions.

1060162 to market 2Being the total foodie that I am, I experienced some tough spots here and there, but overall I managed to stick to my goal.  Within the first week, I already felt reenergized (a valuable entity for us college girls!) and just plain good about myself.  Who can ask for more?

When I did eat sugar, I made it count: I indulged mindfully and made a point to savor my food.  Eating clean has not only benefitted my body, but my mind as well; it has been a good exercise in sensible eating that I will continue to practice.

1309285 autumn leavesNow that November is in full swing, it’s time to make sure I don’t succumb to the major stress of the late-semester time crunch (twenty-four hours is simply not enough for me anymore!).  The major challenges that I am going to face as the semester comes to an end are finding the time to work out (I’ve made it so far without gaining a pound!) and continuing to eat healthy, despite the tantalizing aroma of hot cocoa and other seasonal goodies at every meal I go to.

Now that I’ve made it this far, I am confident that I can maintain my healthy lifestyle no matter what the world throws at me.

So collegiettes, let’s stay in touch!  Contact me at efbayne8@aol.com.  I’ll leave you with one of my favorite motivational quotes:

“There are two kinds of people in the world: those who make excuses and those who get results. An excuse person will find any excuse for why a job was not done, and a results person will find any reason why it can be done.  Be a creator, not a reactor.”~Alan Cohen, author

Lots of love,

Elizabeth Bayne is a first-year at the marvelous Smith College. She adores running dusty trails, pumping iron, and everything yoga-related. Unfortunately she cannot seem to muster the willpower to stay away from decadent desserts or anything covered in that delicious fake yogurt they dip raisins into.
In all seriousness, working out is a powerful stress-reliever for her and has invariably become a part of daily life. Most recently, yoga and weight lifting have become the most exciting parts of her workout routine, but she’s always looking for new ways to be motivated (Thursday night Zumba class, anyone?).
Her workout goals for this season are to tone up and to adopt sensible eating habits to avoid the seemingly ubiquitous Freshman Fifteen. She also wants to be able to do a handstand for two reasons: to develop intense concentration skills and to have a cool party trick.
