When I was in Las Vegas a while ago, I stopped into the Tom Ford store and swooned at the elegant menswear Mr. Ford had created. I remember thinking to myself, “Dear God, if he made women’s clothes again, they would be utterly fantastic.” I was not wrong.

After six years, Tom Ford has made the return to women’s wear, in an uber-secret show on September 12th. His designs were modeled by his favorite lady friends and muses, including but not limited to Beyonce, Julianne Moore, Lauren Hutton, and Stella Tennant. Ford, who now prefers “Mr. Ford” as opposed to “Tom,” favors of late the more private and formal aspects of fashion that once made it something to look forward to, as opposed to something gobbled up quicker than your mother’s mashed potatoes on Thanksgiving. It is for this reason that the show was so secret–Ford refuses to give in to the nonstop fashion blogging and tweeting machine.

Except today. Ford allowed Vogue access to photograph this top secret collection, most of which will be available in the magazine’s December issue. Vogue posted just four photographs of the spread on their website today, and my god are they to die for. Read the accompanying article here.

Photographed by Steven Meisel, the line is a modern retelling of 1970s glam, heightened to typical Ford standards of elegance and prestige. I practically died, and I’m sure you will, too. This is what fashion is supposed to look like.

Thank you, Mr. Ford.
