Name: Nick Andersen
Hometown:Â Milford, Michigan
Year: Junior
Major: Multimedia Journalism/American History
Favorite Coldstone/Yopo Flavor:Â I’m a diabetic and I used to work at Coldstone, so I don’t really partake… but peanut butter if anything.
Where do you study Davis/UL/other: When I have time to study, I study in the stacks in Davis.
Fun Fact: I have an unreasonable sense of pride in my home state of Michigan.
Motto: “Keep Calm and Carry On”
What are you involved in on campus?
I’m the Arts Editor at the Daily Tar Heel, and I occasionally teach music lessons for Carolina Music Outreach.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
In 10 years, I’d like to be living in a city somewhere and helping to tell other people’s stories.
If you could go anywhere right now, where would you go and why?
I would like to go back to San Francisco and get a cup of coffee at my favorite coffee shop there.
What always cheers you up?
Coffee usually cheers me up…that or a spoonful of peanut butter.
If you could meet up and have coffee with anyone (dead or alive) who would it be and why?
I would meet up with Edward Gorey, an illustrator and set designer. His books and drawings have a really wonderful sense of style and dark humor that I’ve always loved. I once wrote a research paper on his life in eighth grade, and to get to talk to him in person would be a real treat.
Describe your ideal date:
My ideal date would have to feature delicious home-cooked food throughout and an espresso at the end of the night.
Eating a home-cooked meal and drinking coffee? Writes and teaches music, too? Who doesn’t love that? Nick is definitely a one-of-a-kind, well-rounded individual. So if you see this campus cutie around, make sure to say “hey!” Maybe even ask him to grab an espresso with you!
