Over Christmas break, our family decided to adopt a new puppy (we already had a dog named Cosette, a Dalmation/Lab mix)! Her name is Stella, and she’s a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. We brought Stella home from the pet store on her first day there (she was just under 8 weeks old) and immediately began lavishing her with goodies, treats, and lots of love!
Here are some pictures and videos from the week I got to spend with her at home!
The interaction between Stella and Cosette is ridiculously adorable. We had been wanting to get a puppy so that Cosette could have a friend (and maybe even feel like a mother!). Little did we know they would get along so well and like each other so much!!
They slay me with their cuteness!!
Cosette likes to play-fight with Stella to try to make Stella pay attention to her. Poor Stella is just a little baby though, so she’s often too sleepy to respond to Cosette! When they do get going though, it’s HILARIOUS and too cute to handle. This is what they do 90% of the time: Stella waddles around. Cosette thinks YAY STELLA!! and chases her. Cosette bites Stella’s ear playfully and Stella dodges by pressing her head against the ground. Cosette tries again, Stella dodges again. Repeat 100x. Stella’s head gets really wet from Cosette, so then we put her on the heater vent on the floor and she dries off. This provided hours of entertainment for my family over the break! Here’s a clip of this, featuring my mom trying to make Stella pee and being thwarted by the presence of Cosette, who is insatiably curious about Stella:
Sometimes, Cosette swings a tug-o-war toy around Stella’s head to try to provoke a reaction (see 6:30 in the video below)! Here’s a snippet of playtime involving Stella, Cosette, the tug-o-war toy, and my family members and me speaking in Chinese:
We snuck Stella into Walmart to buy her supplies in this tote bag! We lined it with a fleece blanket and she slept soundly until we pulled her out to “try on” clothes in the pet aisle :) We dressed her up for Christmas (first picture) but then decided that the outfit was too trendy and would go out of style soon. We opted for the pink sweater instead (picture two).
Here’s Stella sleeping in a cave of blankets and pillows on my bed! I’ve always wanted a pet small enough to sleep with me, and Stella was just the right size :) I didn’t get much sleep those nights because she needed to get up to pee every few hours, but it was worth it!!!
Stella is seriously cuddly. If you sit on the ground anywhere within a 10 foot radius of her, she’ll immediately climb up your legs, curl up in your lap, and go straight to sleep :)
