In order to make the long-haul international trips more comfortable, Air New Zealand has designed the economy class “SkyCouch,” where a couple can purchase the cheaper third seat in a row and fold away the arm rests and fold up the foot rests to create a couch-like sleeping environment that’s ideal for cuddling.
It is inevitable PDA and mile high club membership will skyrocket after the introduction of this cuddle couch in April 2011, and many people have been joking about a “clothing required” sign next to the “fasten seat belt” sign. What do you think about the SkyCouch? Should we keep spooning to the bedroom, or are you already planning a vacation to New Zealand?

Wait – did I just watch a trailer for a futuristic sci-fi movie, or do planes actually look like this? The Continental/United flight I took yesterday still had the same itchy blue fabric from 1995 on the seats and I had to pay to eat lunch (a $5 turkey sandwich) and was taunted the entire flight by clips from a Katherine Heigl rom-com that I could watch in entirety if I was willing to pay a whopping $7.
And this whole time Air New Zealand is offering white pod-like seats in first class and couches in coach? I’ll stomach PDA anyday.
