You know that over-achiever in your philosophy class who seems to be able to juggle academics and extracurriculars with incredible ease? Usually, you just want to smack those people who serve as president of six different clubs, maintain a 4.0, do 25 hours of community service a week and still always look polished and put together. But sometimes, those people have actually done some really cool and different things.
Meet Leo Wong, who hails from Los Angeles, California and is a freshman Newhouse student majoring in Public Relations.
Leo has auditioned for a plethora of television shows. They include: Akeelah and the Bee, The Last Airbender, Sandlot 2, Zoey 101, Neds Declassified, and Avatar. Leo made the final cuts for Avatar and even scored a Pop Tarts commercial, which was aired in 2005. The well-known Pop Tarts commercial featured a gibbering ice monster that mortified children in a swimming pool. Check it out at: http://www.youtube.com/
Not only was Leo successful in his acting, but he is also accomplished in Speech and Debate. Leo was crowned as the California State Champion and National Semifinalist in Duo Interpretation. To top it all off, Leo is also a National Forensics League Academic All American. NFL (National Forensics League) has nurtured the talent of several influentials such as Oprah Winfrey, Kelsey Grammar, and Sonia Sotomayor.
You can expect such an experienced communicator like Leo to succeed. Watch out for him! (If you ever see him around campus, ask him to do an impersonation of Professor Joan Deppa and her broken hand!)
