This is a sponsored blog post written by me on behalf of GRETCHY. All opinions are 100% mine.
You’re getting ready to go out at night when you encounter the classic problem: Your closet is stuffed with clothes but you have nothing to wear. Your past three Facebook profile pictures all feature the same jeans and going-out top you always wear, your favorite dress is in the laundry, and half your closet is taken up by dresses you no longer wear. What do you do?
Sisters Britt and Gretchen Hackmann understand this predicament all too well because they experienced the same wardrobe problems while undergrads at Babson College. Tired of repeating the same stale outfits over and over again, they came up with a solution: They created GRETCHY, a members-only community for college students and young professionals. Members can trade in their used designer dresses for fifty percent of what the dress will sell for on the site in GRETCHY cash. That money can then be used on new designer dresses from GRETCHY at 50 – 80% off retail prices. The collection is constantly changing, so what you see on the site today may not be there tomorrow. In other words, if you see a dress you absolutely have to own, make sure to get it sooner rather than later! Here’s how it works:
Step 1: Scavenge through your closet and pull out designer dresses that you no longer want to wear. I’ve worn this black and white BCBG dress more times than I can count, so I’m looking forward to trading it in for something new.
Step 2: Fill out the Trade In form on GRETCHY’s site. The form will estimate how much you might be able to get for my dress in GRETCHY cash. I could receive up to $80 or more for mine, which is pretty cool.
Step 3: Enter your credit card information to cover the $10 shipping cost and print out a UPS shipping label. Pop your dress in a box and mail it away!
Step 4: Once the dress arrives at GRETCHY headquarters, the dress will be inspected for authenticity and condition. Then you get cash deposited into your account to use for your next dress purchase from GRETCHY’s collection.
Since I’m trading in my go-to cocktail dress, I’m on the hunt to find a new one that suits my style. Using GRETCHY’s product filters to narrow my search, I found a hot Robert Rodriguez body-con dress in a gorgeous deep purple. A quick Google search told me that the dress originally retailed for $341, is listed on ShopBop for $239, and is available on GRETCHY for just $150. When you subtract the GRETCHY cash I earn for trading in my old dress, I’m saving major money and getting a brand new dress. Shopping has never been more guilt-free!
