We’ve all seen the famous ink covering the bodies of celebrities like Angelina Jolie and Megan Fox. But what do the guys at UT think about women that are “tatted up”? I polled some of UT’s men to find out whether or not they think it’s attractive when women have tattoos. Well, the results are in and 62.5% of the participants voted that they are all for tattoos on ladies.
Alex, a junior at UTK, said, “For the most part, I really dig girls with tattoos. It definitely adds a level of [rebelliousness] that boosts sex appeal.”
So good news, girls, if you’ve been thinking about getting a tattoo, it should go over well with the boys on campus. However, they definitely had some ideas about where on the body is hot, and where is definitely not. “I find tattoos on girls attractive if they are in the right spot. Places on the neck (other than the back of the neck) and any place on the arm that isn’t their wrist are not attractive. But, places like the hip, side or upper back tend to be the most appealing to me,” said Junior MarKeith.
When asked where the least attractive place was to have a tattoo, an even number of guys voted for the lower back and the neck. The shoulders and legs were next on the list of least favorite locations. Want to know where guys really love to see some ink? 71% of guys agreed that the hip is the most attractive place on a woman’s body to see a tattoo.
A tattoo should be something that you get for yourself. But, I wanted to see how tattoos affect the way a guy thinks of you. I asked UT men if they would be less likely to talk to a girl if she had one or more visible tattoos. Would it be an intimidation factor? A turnoff? 87.5% of guys polled agreed that a girl’s tats would not affect whether or not they approached her. “I have tattoos, so I’m not going to avoid a girl because she has one or multiple,” said MarKeith.
UT guys made it clear that tattoos shouldn’t be frivolous. They don’t mind a girl with ink, but the tattoo should have some meaning. “Very few tattoos really fit to a person’s character and other appearance. Thus, very few girls look sexy with tattoos. In my opinion tattoos should be small, feminine, and not too visible,” said Steve* a senior at UT. Freshman, Adam*, agreed adding that girls need to be weary of tattoos that are too large, “tramp stamps,” or meaningless if they want the tat to be attractive.
So ladies, don’t be afraid to get that tattoo you’ve been thinking about. Just make sure it means something. You never know, the story behind the ink could be a great icebreaker in a conversation with a new guy.
Most UT guys agreed that they can find tattoos on women sexy. Take it from UT junior, Eric, who said, “I like the rebellious look!”
