Are you headed to a warm destination this spring break? Well put those winter blues on the back burner as we hop skip and jump into the warm rays of spring break sun. Getting in shape doesn’t need to be a drastic change where you only drink water for a month. It’s important to make healthy changes rather than dramatic changes to your diet. You’ll be surprised how little changes to your daily life can affect your overall health.
If you start by changing the little things you’ll be surprised at the difference it makes. You don’t have to go at this alone. Get your group of friends involved. Make a countdown till spring break and help each other achieve the goals. If you inform others about your goals you will be more prone to keep working at them.
Cut out soda completely from your life – this includes diet soda too. I know, you’ve heard the devastating effects of soda all over, but you continue to plead ignorant. The amount of soda in one can is comparable to two candy bars! Instead of reaching for a seemingly refreshing sugar-filled can of soda, have a cold glass of water. If you absolutely need something with flavor, try flavored water or 100% fruit or vegetable juice.
Speaking of drinking water, it’s not only a healthier choice, but one that your body needs for survival. Water has so many health benefits and it will leave your whole body feeling refreshed. Water can also prevent eating too much. Drinking a glass of water before every meal will help you resist the urge to over eat.
Now onto food which is the elephant in the room. Before you go crazy and cut food completely out of your diet to get that beach body, I’ll let you in on a little secret. Not eating as a diet plan is harmful in more ways than I can count. Not only will you deprive your body of the nutrients it needs but when you do decide to break your fast your metabolism will be significantly slower. Just be smart when it comes to eating. Try to avoid fried foods or foods with high sodium or sugar content. Instead of going out to eat, try preparing the food yourself.
It’s not all about what goes into your body, it is also how you exercise. Eating and drinking healthy is a start but you will start to see real results once you put your body to work. Start now! If you have time to be online you have time to get your cute butt into tip-top spring break shape.
Step away from Facebook and Twitter and into your local gym or workout on your own. Cardio is a girl’s best friend when it comes to getting spring break ready. Eat right, drink water and put a little effort into working out and in no time you will be ready to face the beach and more importantly the dreaded bathing suit.
