Spring break is quickly approaching and there is one question on everybody’s mind: where to go? One week for total relaxation no professors, no papers, and no pressure! So gather up a group of your closest friends and lets agree that what happens on Spring Break 11’ stays in Spring Break 11’.
No Shoes, No Shirt, No problems?
If you’re looking for your classic college spring break destination then the beach is calling your name! I’m talking beachfront parties during the day and even crazies ones at night. Some popular beaches Collegiette’s across the United States are flocking to include the famous Panama City, South Padre Island, and Daytona Beach. If you want to stay local, and are still looking to party, check out Myrtle Beach, Wilmington, or Cherry Grove. But if you’re tight on cash, and still like to catch some rays try beach camping on Carolina Beach, it’s free! If you can make the trek down the beach to the designated
camping markers, or have four- wheel drive capability, consider paradise as your only destination. Don’t have a tent? Rent one from Campus Rec!
How about the mountains?
Off-season is the perfect time to make a trip the mountains. Not only is it cheaper, but also for those of you who aren’t a big fan of the cold weather, it’s not quite as nippy. Some destinations worth giving a try: Salt Lake City, Vail, and Squaw Valley. But why fly across country when you could take a road trip? A car packed full of your closest friends, enjoying the beautiful scenery North Carolina has to offer, it really doesn’t get any more adventurous. Check out Sugar Mountain, Boone, or Wintergreens! And if you’re up for it, there are a ton of campgrounds in the Cullowhee/Sylva area!
Or the city?
Rather lose yourself in the city for a week? Spring is the perfect weather to explore those busy cities full of fine cuisines and elite social scenes! Spend your time exploring Times Square or watch in awe as incredible architecture floats by on a Chicago Riverboat tour. Maybe even make your way to our nation’s capital for some brotherly love. But you don’t have to travel that far to check out some great cities, do you? Of course not! Charlotte, Asheville, and even Charleston are all reasonably close to Wolfpack nation, so why not separate from the pack and do something a little different for spring break! If all else fails, enough fun can be had in good old Raleigh. Make a day trip to explore old Raleigh and then get drinks at the Raleigh Times Bar for a little historical fun.
