Hello world!
After obsessing over MTV’s new show, I Used To Be Fat, I was inspired to finally conquer my battle of losing weight. I am a junior at Temple University and I am heavily involved in activities, organizations, and my internship work. However, from now on, my health is moving on up on my priorities list!
I gained my freshman 15 during my sophomore year. I was introduced to Temple as a transfer student from Hampton University and quickly
became amazed with all that the wonderful city of Philadelphia had to offer.
At the end of my first semester at Temple, I realized the buttons on my jeans were screaming and my shirts were hugging me way too tight. Talk about a wakeup call! As I enter the second semester of my junior year I know that it’s time to make a change.
Growing up I did not have sweets and sodas in the household, so when I had access to them I tended to splurge. I was heavily involved with volleyball throughout middle and high school which helped balance my weight as a teenager. But being 5’1and overweight is not something I applaud. I’m small and carrying this huge load is going to begin taking a toll on my body. It’s time to shed these unwanted pounds! This is going to be hard to reveal, but my current weight is 189. Whoa, I know! Sometimes I wonder how I lag all of those pounds around on my short frame. My doctors say a great weight for my height is 130, but losing the freshman 15 will be a great kick off for my healthy future.
In the past I was a member of Weight Watchers with my mother. Following the program for about 2 months I lost 16 lbs and was beyond stoked when I received my red ribbon (for those of you who are involved with WW, you know what I mean). After slacking off on Weight Watchers, I experienced years of yo-yo dieting. It wasn’t until my freshman year at Hampton University where I lost 10 pounds the healthy way on my own. I’m ready to make a lifestyle change and not a temporary diet.
The three Freshman 15 bloggers, Ally, Sara, and Nikki, have been even more inspiration for me to skip the French fries and load up on salad from now on. These three ladies are doing great with their diet and fitness goals and I cannot wait to join them.
I’m so excited to join this weight loss journey and even more excited to share this experience with readers just like you! Not only do I want to successfully lose weight and keep it off, I want to make sure you do too. We will stay positive and motivated together—No giving up over here! So time to throw on our yoga pants and sneakers to hit the gym! Who’s with me?
