A few interesting things you’d like to share about yourself: Before going to college, I thought about majoring in theater. Acting as an ostrich on Noah’s Ark in the play “Children of Eden,” convinced me, however, that I was not suited for the stage. Wearing a huge ostrich costume was humiliating enough, but when I fell onstage in front of a full house, that was it. That marked the end of my acting career. After that, I focused more on my other passion: writing. The first thing I ever wrote was when I was eight years old; I wrote a book titled “Molly Hood.” The book was inspired by Robin Hood and the plot was pretty much the same, other than the fact that I was the chief character and the Merry Men included all of the pets I had during my childhood.

Zodiac sign: Aries

Favorite color: Purple

Favorite food: Anything spicy, namely Thai food.

Biggest pet peeve: People who carry small dogs in their purses. That is disgusting!

Favorite song at the moment: “The Suburbs” by Arcade Fire

Favorite place to shop: Urban Outfitters. If only I could afford it

What you like/don’t like about Columbia: I love the professors at Columbia. Most of them are savvy, experienced and super vulgar, which entertains me. I don’t like how Columbia is sometimes artistic just for the sake of being artistic. Maybe I’m wrong, but that is the impression I get from Columbia at times.

Jackson is a senior magazine journalism major at Columbia College Chicago, class of 2011. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Jackson transferred to Columbia during his sophomore year and considers Chicago to be second home. In addition to being a Campus Correspondent for Her Campus Columbia, Jackson also works as the copy chief for The Columbia Chronicle, Columbia's student-run newspaper, and at Echo, Columbia's student-run magazine, as the fact checking/copy chief and online editor. Jackson especially loves writing about the LGBTQ community and hopes to make it one of his specialities sometime in the future. While being a big believer in karma, Jackson always tries to surround himself with positive energy and positive people. A few of Jackson's favorite things: RuPaul's Drag Race, Family Guy, lemon-flavored Arizona iced tea and Chipotle.
