Who heard of the new diet that allows you to consume just one big meal a day, and that’s it, and you’ll be guaranteed the body you want?  Most likely no one and that’s because this method is very ineffective.  However, numerous people continue to remain faithful and hopeful to the “one meal a day” weight loss plan.   They may be saving money, but unfortunately, they’re not saving their body.  The reason why this “one meal a day” lifestyle doesn’t work is because you will become hungry!  It’s our hunger that is responsible for the slowing of our metabolism.  You learn something new every day, don’t you?  For instance, that Mr. Hunger is the evil guy in this situation, not food!  Defeat your hunger; feed it!  What can help you lose weight is if you eat within one hour of waking up, which means breakfast is important! Not only does it speed up your metabolism, helping you burn more calories throughout the day, but it mutes that poor stomach that was probably screaming for some early morning munchies.  Who wants to sit through class with their stomach being the loudest thing in the room anyway?

What countless people don’t know is that losing weight depends on more than just what you eat.  Weight loss depends on HOW you eat, your behavior and your activity level.  So for all of you ladies that hate to sacrifice two meals for one big one, it’s a good thing you do because it wasn’t working for you anyway!

Ladies, hold your breath for this second shocker. Who likes pink lemonade? Coca- Cola? Okay, how about iced-tea?  Homemade iced tea is delicious and quenches thirst to perfection.  Want to know what it doesn’t quench?  Here’s the answer:  your weightThis is because we can effortlessly consume 800-1,000 calories and loads of sugar on a daily basis just from what we drink.  Soda is filled with sugar and since sugar is a carbohydrate, when we attempt to burn it off—it turns into fat.  This is why our weight is so easily impacted by soft drinks.  This is something to keep in mind when we order just a salad, along with two or three refills of soda. If your intention is to lose weight this would be the best and easiest place to start. Hey!  Let’s look on the brighter side; water is free! So we can look at this as a good, healthy economical decision.

The majority of us have been told that the standard intake of water is 6-8 glasses per day; if you’re reading this and agree with me thus far, we are off to a good start!  There are those who are aware of this standard and neglect to follow it, but it may just be because we don’t know the benefits of doing so.  Let the secret be revealed! (This is a learning experience for all of us.)  When you start to drink 6-8 glasses of water per day, your body will begin to release the water that it was once storing.  This is because your body assumes that more water will be cycling through, meaning, there is no need to retain the excess water.  With that said, drinking enough water will allow our body to free what it doesn’t need, minimizing our bloating and instantly putting a smile on our face! This sounds like a perfect technique to practice, especially before a night out in the city.  The more water you drink; the less bloated you feel. (Not to mention, the better you will look.)

The point is, when you’re attempting to lose weight, make it easier on yourself and start with changing the little things.  Think of it as an experiment; you’ll never know for sure, until you try.  You might as well make a little change for a bigger outcome.  Good Charlotte couldn’t have said it any better, “The little things; Little things they always hang around; The little things; Little things they try to break me down; The little things; Little things they just won’t go away; The little things; Little things made me who I am today.”
