For Zac Oppenheim, sailing is a way to “connect with the earth and the elements.” He’s been captaining sailboats since he was 5 years old. Today he’s the USFSP watercraft programs coordinator, and shares his love of the sport through teaching students how to sail.

If you’ve never sailed before, but want to learn, Zac’s “Start Sailing Right” classes might be just for you.

Or, if you already know how to sail, you can check out one of USFSP’s nearly 40 sailboats, including recreational keel boats and dinghies, for free. They’re available seven days a week, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information on sailing opportunities, check out the Waterfront’s web site (http://www.stpete.usf.edu/waterfront/sailing.htm) or call the office at 727-USF-4597.
