This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at NYU chapter and does not reflect the views of Her Campus.

Name: Brianne Sperber
School: College of Arts and Science
Major: European Studies
Year: 2011

HC:What clubs and organizations are you involved with on campus?
Brianne:NYU Program Board

HC:What does your role as Vice President of the NYU Program Board entail?  What attracted you to this position?
Brianne: Basically, the job means having a lot of fun. I try to connect with other clubs and organizations on campus to encourage them to work with Program Board on events. Clubs at NYU typically contact me to reach out for some sort of co-sponsorship support. As VP, I’m also the elected “human resources” party for PB, so any time any of the chairs have any sort of problems, they’re directed to me and we try to work it out. Our committee chairs are always awesome though, so I’ve never had to deal with any issues regarding them. I started out as secretary but since our president graduated early, all of our roles basically shifted. I really love working as VP because I get a truly special bond with our committee chairs and club members. Since I don’t have to plan events the way they do, I get to be a part of everything and it’s just really cool.

HC: What has been your favorite class so far?
Brianne: I’m a huge nerd, so boiling it down to one class is definitely difficult. I think my favorite two classes were Jews and Other Minorities in Nazi Germany with Marion Kaplan and History of Western Art II with Kenneth Silver. For those classes, my professors really made the class. They both have inspired me beyond reason.

HC:What are your hobbies and interests outside of the NYU PB?
Brianne: I absolutely love to work out. I could probably cancel plans with anyone any time of the week if it meant I could spend more time working out. Aside from that, I go to a lot of shows – gotta stay up to date on what music is coming out so my opinions are remotely valuable to the music chairs on PB. I go to museums and art exhibits pretty regularly and really love to bake. I just wish I had more time to do all this stuff!

HC: You’re graduating this year: Congrats!  What are your career goals after graduation?
Brianne: I’m looking into a few year-long internships at either the MoMa or the Alliance Française. Other than that, I’d love to work in book publishing, either with book publicity or marketing. Coming this close to the end of college, I wonder if I made a mistake in my studies and so want to try to pursue careers that capture other interests of mine so I figure out what it is I really want sooner than later.
