The Rhodes College Rites of Spring Music Fest is right around the corner. This year’s line-up is going to be one of the best Rhodes has had, so get listening to some of the artists performing and get excited!
Day One Line-Up: Friday, April 9th
The Hood Internet
The Chicago based duo mixes different genres of music to produce crowd-rocking songs and music mash-ups. Their tunes are an Internet sensation, hence their name “The Hood Internet”. The duo has performed at many festivals including Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo. Get ready to dance!
Listen to this popular mash-up.
Matt & Kim
Matt & Kim are known for their catchy lyrics and upbeat style. Their 2008 hit song Daylight is not the only good song they have. Check out some of their earlier songs like Yea Yeah.
Anberlin
Many students are confused as to why this band is the headliner. Stop being confused and start getting excited! The lead singer, Stephen Christian, is one of the greatest alternative singers of all time and will put on a show that you won’t want to miss. The Christian rock/alternative group records up-tempo more hardcore songs as well as somber acoustic melodies. Their newest album, Dark is the Way, Light is a Place was released in September of last year and features their pop hit single Impossible.
Check out two of my favorite Anberlin songs:
The Unwinding Cable Car(Acoustic)
Paper-Thin Hymn(Upbeat Rock)
Day Two Line-Up: Saturday, April 10th
Ying Yang Twins
The Atlanta based hip-hop duo has produced popular party songs including Shake it like a Salt Shaker and Dangerous.
The Ying Yang Twins have recorded with artists such as Pitbull, Lil’ John, and Wyclef Jean. They are energetic and will surely get the audience in the “crunk” spirit.
You might recognize their famous Halftime Song (Get up and get CRUNK)
David Banner
David Banner is a versatile R&B/Hip Hop artist and appears in many rap and R&B hits with artists including Lil Wayne, Akon, Bun B, and Snoop Dog. His most famous hit titled Play (Edited Version) is not the only good song he sings.
Check him out in Shawty Say ft. Lil Wayne and Touching:
