Undeniably intelligent, remarkably confident, cultured and with an untamed passion for the arts and life, Sam Han could be best described as grounded. With a fervor and tenacity that could marvel people twice his age, this amazing actor is rooted in his purpose; unwavering and assured of his boundless destiny. Just three days shy of twenty-one, Han is not just majoring in Theatre at Temple University-he is living and breathing it.

Born in China and raised in Johnston, Iowa, Han was not always so passionate about acting. In fact, as a child he wanted to be the next Michael Jordan.

“I wanted to be a professional basketball player”, said Han. “I wanted to be like Michael Jordan.”

But destiny had another plan for Han-and it wasn’t his hoop-dreams.

After his English teacher’s recommendation to try-out for his high-school’s play , Han took her advice and tried out for the play-without any experience and only expecting a minor role. To his surprise, Han was casted as the male-
lead.  After the show had ended, a feeling of belonging struck him, triggering the ardor and passion that he has now for the art; an ardor and passion that will never leave but instead grows stronger and stronger.

“You know, acting for me was something that fell into my life”, said Han. “I had no aspirations about it growing up at all. It sort of happened by chance.”

Although Han found his niche and was content in it and many were happy for his newly found passion, there were also naysayers and doubters that tried to deter him but Han refused to let them veer him off course.

“When I finally told my family, friends, and teachers about my decision to become an actor, people were excited but others were so realistic saying, ‘Now, Sam, only few can make it’  and ‘What is your plan B’’’, said Han. “I heard what they had to say and I did proceed with caution, but I refuse to live in the could of, should of, would ofs. I had to at least try it for myself and not wonder, ‘could I have done that?”

And Han is not living in the realm of could-ofs, instead he is living his dream and trying to obtain and acheive more than what he ever expected.

Having  over twenty shows under his belt, including television and film, Han is already a success but with his humble disposition and poised manner  Han made it quite clear that  it is more than success that drives him.

“Acting is about success but it is not just about that. It means so much more. It is just not a profession. It is not just the means of a paycheck. It is the oxygen I breathe.”

With his bright future, Han has many goals but wants to do more film and also to “seize every and any opportunity that rises to the surface.”

On top of being a great actor, Han is also an avid traveler, model, loves photography, a writer and a poet and also has a band called A Few Things and a Lullaby along with his friend, Maddie Orthey, where both sing and play instruments and use many excerpts from Han’s poems for their lyrics.

With a beautiful mind, kind heart, determined spirit, and remarkable talent, Sam Han is the epitome of greatness. Only the beggining for the actor, Han’s future is blossoming and brilliant. There is no doubt that his name will be in lights.
