This week we’re finally getting weather that’s worthy of the “spring” label. You know what that means, right? It’s time to color splash yourself for Spring.

One of the major trends for this spring is wild, eye-catching, in-your-face color! Bright, bold colors are the perfect way to awaken the spring spirit inside of you. Forget about all those boring neutrals and drab tones that you’ve gotten accustomed to wearing during the fall and winter months and trade them for vivid purples, radiant greens, audacious oranges and cheeky pinks. The bolder, the brighter—the better. Go crazy with color and dare to mix and match hues that you normally wouldn’t. Yes, hot pink with tangerine, emerald with violet, and honeysuckle with cobalt blue are just the beginning!

If you’re feeling like that’s too much then follow the Jill Sander SS11 RTW collection (right) and pair a candy colored maxi skirt or short-shorts with a simple white tee. This way you don’t have to risk feeling overwhelmed. Never stray too far from your comfort zone, but remember to take risks because more often than not, they pay off!

Still feeling a little reluctant? Then start of small with your accessories: Pop a neon belt to cinch in a blazer or slide your feet into a brightly hued sandals to pop an ensemble—corked espadrilles are great because you still have that neutral element with the wedge part of the shoe. You can even take a more modest approach with a unapologetically bright manicure. With this you can even alternate colors on each other nail or go for a full rainbow of colors on each hand.

It’s easy to get into a funk on campus, but keep in mind that fashion isn’t just some superficial obsession. It’s much deeper than that and you can use it to express yourself or the opposite of that, to make you feel something—fashion has the power to transcend into every aspect of your life.

Here are some great affordable picks from Topshop to get you in he right direction.
