Music Man: Meet The Saturdays

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at DePauw chapter.

Warm weather, blooming flowers, and music from UK sensation girl group The Saturdays is exactly what every collegiette needs to finish out another strong semester at DePauw. Mollie, Una, Rochelle, Frankie, and Vanessa formed the hit pop group back in 2007 and have been taking over Europe ever since. Together the feisty five have recorded three albums, written a book, and also starred in their own reality show. They plan to release their forth album this summer. The group is pop perfection at its finest

The second single off of the group’s third album, “Higher,” is guaranteed to make anyone leave their studying behind at Roy O. Library. The song quickly climbed the charts to crack into the top ten across the pond. The electropop and synthpop coupled together make a wonderful carefree feel. The chorus is inspirational and will have everyone panting for air after singing at the top of his or her lungs. Girl power emerges in this track as the girls belt out, “so when I speak listen/ this is my decision/ and you keep on messing up the words oh oh… I’m gonna lift to lift it higher, I’m gonna lift to lift it higher.” This track is catchy.

Check out the remixed music video below. The 7th Heaven Remix further enhances the positive feel of the song. It’s the perfect song to jam to while lounging in the sun. The girls look amazing as they strut around town enjoying the day. The Saturdays officially remixed the song with rapper Flo-Rida.
