Earth Lovers: Great Event, Great Guys – UPDATED!

This is a sponsored feature. All opinions are 100% from Her Campus.

Today’s shower time: about six minutes (my timer was taking a break)
The shower situation: before a day of interviews (or should I say calls since I didn’t get through to most people)
Why you should come back tomorrow: to see how my visiting friends love the shower challenge

Today marks the half way point of the 3 minute shower challenge. While my blog will be done in one week, I’ve been inspired to keep making positive changes in my life.

It’s actually pretty easy to make small changes. Shortening my showers wasn’t that hard, although I’m still a little too far from the three minute mark. Waiting for a full load of laundry can be annoying but it saves a lot of water. Forgoing plastic bottles and plastic bags isn’t that tough, although it’s easy to fall back on them every once in a while. I’ve even heard that some of my friends are shortening their showers!

I’m so impressed by a group of U of I students who are hosting a Water Walk to raise support and awareness of the world’s water shortage. Follow them on Twitter @UIUCWaterWalk to get more information.

The group is hosting the walk because unclean water is the number one killer in the world. One out of every eight people doesn’t have access to clean water. The goal of the walk is to raise enough money to build a well. That one well will have the power to change hundreds of lives. The walk is April 20th on the Quad. The students will be carrying jugs of water to simulate the plight of people who have to walk miles every day carrying heavy jugs just to find water. If you don’t go to U of I, look for similar events in your area or consider starting one. If you do go to U of I, please let me know about any other great events.

I’m back from one and off to do a few more interviews. I’m having so much fun reporting again. I love that each day is different and a journalist can work on really diverse stories. Right now, I’m working on a health story and an investigative piece. One complaint:  I had to get up far earlier than I’d like. After a fun Thursday night it would’ve been very nice to sleep in. But, I’m up and really excited about these stories!
