Coachella 2011 Fashion Report – Part 1

It’s 4:01am (EST) and Annie and I have just returned to our hotel room from our first day at Coachella. Coachella is a huge music and arts festival that takes place at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. This year, Intel paid for me and Annie to go to Coachella (!) in order to check out The Creators Project, a collaboration that they’re doing with Vice magazine (more about that later).

While the music, art, and technology were all top-of-the-line, one thing that really struck me and Annie was the way that people dressed at Coachella! With styles ranging from hippie-chic to completely absurd, there was a little bit of everything to be found at the festival. Here are a few selected snapshots of my favorite looks from today.

This look screams American Apparel, Flashdance, Rave, and South Beach all at once. It takes talent to do all of that in one look.

This look, complete with the gladiator sandal, peasant hat, and ray bans, is complete only with a shirtless man in jeans, loafers and a ridiculously large necklace by one’s side.

This look is one that I could see a few collegiettes pulling off. The red lipstick and striped mini-shorts are the definition of fierce.

Attention shoppers! It appears that high-waisted DIY Daisy Dukes are making an official comeback this summer, especially when paired with a flowy cropped top.

Her dress may be cute but bare feet in public? Definitely a huge no-go. Imagine all of the things you could step on and hurt yourself, not to mention the bacteria that 75,000+ daily Coachella attendees are tracking out of the porta poties.

I believe that this woman’s look speaks all for itself.

These lovely ladies got the Coachella look down pat. Fringe moccasins, flowy blouses over bikini tops, interesting shorts, sunglasses, and loads of bangles. Bravo ladies!

Lastly, what would Coachella be if not a place for a shirtless body-painted barefoot man wearing a Gucci fannypack to feel at home?

Which of these looks would you most like to wear? How about least?
