You might not know Feggens Monbrun (or Vegas OnBass, as he is frequently referred to as) but there’s a chance you’ve heard his music. As a bass player in four bands, including local favorites Chocolate Bread, Feggens can’t help but make you smile. Ask him for a joke, and you probably won’t get one (as we found out in this interview) but if you’re feeling down, go find him. Somehow, he’ll find a way to make you smile.

Her Campus Kean: What are your redeeming qualities?
Feggens Monbrun: I think I’m a pretty funny guy. I’m entertaining. When people’s days are down, I try to get them up and I’m all around friendly. I try to be everyone’s friend. I mean, everyone needs a friend.

HCK: Talk to me about music.
FM: Well, I’m a trumpet major here at Kean for music education.  I play  multiple instruments, and in four bands outside school. I play with a guy names Matt Koziol, he’s a cool dude. I play with a band called Chocolate Bread, we’re pretty well known around the area. Sometimes you’ll see a sticker that looks like the Wonder Bread sign, but it says Chocolate Bread in it. We vibe really well. But I’ve always had a hard time explaining our style.

Then I play in two cover bands – one is called Prestige Worldwide and the other one started a few months ago. We’re called Hatrick Parris. It’s a spoof off of Neil Patrick Harris.

HCK: If you were on an island, what would you bring with you?
FM: Ummm… I would bring my bass. I don’t care if there is no electricity. I would just like to have it, just to mess around and keep me busy. And probably a toothbrush.  And a picture of Mila Kunis.

HCK: Is she your celebrity crush?
FM: I don’t know, she’s just the first person who popped into my head. She’s hot.

HCK: Then who would be your celebrity crush? Better yet, if you could have seven minutes in heaven with a celebrity, who would it be?
FM: Oh, you know Ice-T’s wife, CoCo? She is slammin’.

HCK: Describe yourself in five words.
FM: Funny, energetic, loud, ummm, good friend in one word – comrade. And talented. I think I’m talented.

HCK: Chocolate or vanilla.
FM: (with a smile on his face) Swirl, baby.
