Actors, directors and techies alike will find their place in Wandering Minds, a BU theater group which dedicates itself to the love of all things theater. Committed to producing anywhere from one to four plays a semester, Wandering Minds provides all student members with the opportunity to select and direct a play. Once a play is chosen, directors hold auditions and production begins.
With J.R.R. Tolkien’s quote– “Not all who wander are lost.”—as inspiration, the club encourages creative collaboration.
Currently, Wandering Minds is putting on “Dial M for Murder”—a twisted and bloody thriller in which an arranged murder goes awry. Club president Travis Holloway, a CAS senior, notes that the club has starting producing more risky, progressive plays, departing from its tradition of producing well-known works. Consequently, audiences are expanding.
Aside from working on show production, club members attend monthly general meetings and get together once a month for what they call a “Magical Day of Fun”. Holloway explains that these days are meant to establish camaraderie between the members of the group, especially those not currently involved in production. In the past, the club has gone ice skating at the Frog Pond and to see “Gnomeo and Juliet.”
“Dial M for Murder” opened Thursday, April 21 and will also be shown the 22nd at 8 pm and midnight, and the 23rd at 8 pm at the BU Student Theater at Agganis.
Can’t make it? No worries—Wandering Minds is presenting “The Miser” April 28-30.
