How can I explain? It’s like walking on a dream. The vagary tracks produced by synthrock band Empire of the Sun exudes an impression of tangible reverie that will have you running, pushing, and searching for the thrill of it. Empire of the Sun’s debut album, Walking on a Dream, is a production of a collaborative music project of two Australian musicians, Luke Steele of The Sleepy Jackson and Nick Littlemore of Pnau. Not only are they self-producing songwriters but they are also breathtaking performers that have an energy-filled presence palpable to the crowd. From the marriage of these two well-rounded musical innovations, Empire of the Sun was born and has been growing in popularity across the universe ever since.

In a mysterious fashion, Empire of the Sun intertwines a futuristic spirit of fantasy with historical unorthodoxy. It’s unpredictable so you’re not quite sure what is coming up next, but the sounds create a connection between the two very abstract worlds of time and space with an aura of nonconformity. It is almost as if the songs manifests themselves as a negotiation between history and visionary idealism. Luke Steele’s nasaly vocals add an eccentric ambience to the band’s musical direction with subtle traces of tribal-like romance. The demeanor of Empire of the Sun is outlandish and bizarre, but it is this strangeness that is oddly ear-catching. Essentially, Empire of the Sun is cool for being weird and it is this unusual success that hooks all different types of Collegiette listeners.
