Kate Middleton Did Her Own Wedding Day Makeup!

Kate Middleton…er Catherine Duchess of Cambridge…used to have a ton in common with us collegiettes™. She went to college looking for love and to find a prince to sweep her off her feet (oh yeah, and to get a degree!!). Except, unlike us, Kate actually found a prince and from then on became slightly different from the rest of us commonfolk.

But the world’s most famous bride does still have some things in common with us — one of the more surprising things being that she still does her own makeup. Now we aren’t talking about just when she is lounging around Buckingham Palace with the royal family — no, this Brit perfects her look all the time including in her engagement portraits and on her wedding day!

Most brides want to be professionally pampered on their big day, and having makeup applied by an artist is on many brides’ wedding day wishlists. But Kate, who looked absolutely stunning on her wedding day — from dress to hair to makeup — clearly didn’t need it!

Wedding planner Mark Niemierko told PEOPLE Magazine about Kate’s surprising skill.

“I heard that Arabella Preston [a London makeup artist] was called in by a mutual friend of hers and Kate’s,” he says. “She’s had about three or four lessons with Kate at her private flat in Chelsea and has also gone, very privately to Clarence House. Arabella was suppose to be coming on the day as well but now she isn’t, because Kate’s comfortable and confident in doing it.”

Looks like Kate and William really do want a normal life (they’ve reportedly denied having a full staff at their private home near where William works as a RAF Search & Rescue pilot)! Props to them for truly being part of a modern monarchy!
