Enter to Win Free Rent for a Year!

As many of you graduate and head into major metropolitan areas for your first real world job you’ll get to undertake the super fun task of paying rent (or maybe you already are at college!). And whether you’re in a very expensive rent area (hello NYC!) or cheaper (Baltimore perhaps?) we’d guess you’d do whatever you can for FREE RENT.

Apartments.com is hosting an awesome contest I just had to share with all you HC-ers! They’re looking to crown America’s best roommate in their Roommate of the Year video contest. The prize is EPIC — free rent for one year…PLUS $10,000. Unreal.

So many of us will continue roommate living past college so not only is this rent discount amazing, but so is being such a fantastic roommate. Apartments.com did a survey recently that revealed that 77% of respondents have never lived with a roommate they’d consider “the best.” Ouch. Hope that none of my former or current roommates were among that 77%!

Last year’s lucky winner, Andrew Prestler explained, “I say a lot of over-the-top things in my video about what it takes to be the best roommate and be named the Apartments.com Roommate of the Year. But in reality, a big part of being a good roommate is being respectful and treating people the way you want to be treated.”

To follow in Andrew’s lucky footsteps, enter the contest with your video for one of the following categories: the loveable compulsive (managing the household and staying sane!), the purr-fect pet owner (how are you the best roomie to your pet?), the environmentalist (is your living situation green? This one’s for you!), or the all star roommate (show them how you are uniquely the best roommate in America).

Contestants will be judged on originality, creativity, “wow” factor, persuasive argument, style and production. One winner will win the rent + cash, and four runners up will each receive $500. Not bad :)

Enter the contest and leave a comment below telling us about your video. We’d love one of our HC readers to win! This prize would literally change a person’s life for a year!
