This week we’re sharing the songs we’ll have stuck in our heads all summer — whether it’s for our internship commute or heading to the beach, this is what we’ll be jamming out to!
Natasha Bedingfield’s ‘Little Too Much’ has such a happy beat, but I love a little throwback with Rascal Flatt’s ‘Summer Nights.’

Pretty much any Blink 182 jam gets me pumped for summertime, mostly because I listen to a lot of their songs with friends from back home during the summer.
– Lynne Carty, Contributing Writer, Northwestern University
I’m looking forward to listening to I Wanna Go by Britney Spears this summer. It’s perfectly upbeat, infectious, and fun — everything a true summer anthem should be!
– Hannah Orenstein, High School Editor, New York University
Super Bass by Nicki Minaj, Run The World by Beyonce, Keep Your Head Up by Andy Grammer, and Never Gonna Leave This Bed by Maroon 5. I love the first two songs because they are full of energy and make me want to dance. I love the second two songs because they are relaxing and remind me of a warm and sunny summer day.
– Erica Avesian, Contributing Writer, University of Michigan
I’m always playing Rascal Flatts new album, all the songs are so fun to get silly and sing to, plus I’m a sucker for songs about being young and summertime! I think the anthem of the summer will be Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg’s ‘Young, Wild, and Free.’ Such a good song for summer!
– Jessica Salerno, Contributing Writer, Ohio University
Anything by Bruno Mars gets me excited for summer, because those songs are dramatic and fun to sing with friends. I think this summer’s anthem will be Blow by Ke$ha, because it’s catchy, easy to sing and makes no sense.
– Katherine Mirani, Editorial Intern, Northwestern University
I love country so my summer song is Jake Owen’s ‘Barefoot Blue Jean Night’. It portrays the perfect carefree summer night that I always look forward to!
– Julia Moore, Marketing and Sales Summer Intern, Harvard University
I’m absolutely obsessed with Lady Gaga’s new album “Born This Way.” It has a full track of insanely catchy pop songs like ‘Edge of Glory’ and ‘Judas.’ It’s the perfect soundtrack for my summer, whether it’s getting pumped for my daily morning commute to my internship or cruising with friends, stereo blasting, on a road trip to the beach. And let’s face it: Gaga is just infectious!
– Alexandra Churchill, Contributing Writer, University of New Hampshire
Super Bass by Nicki Minaj because it’s light and girly, but still with some sass and attitude like Miss Minaj herself. I can see myself dancing to it in my car.
– Kimya Kavehkar, Contributing Writer, Emerson College
I think ‘Give Me Everything Tonight’ and ‘On the Floor’ are going to be the summer anthems for June, but I’m sure we’ll get sick of them soon enough. They have a pop/techno feel that put you in a good mood whether you’re driving down to the Jersey Shore or heading into NYC for an internship!
– Kaitlyn Monteiro, Contributing Writer, Syracuse University
I love classics like ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’ and ‘Don’t Stop Believin’!’
This summer, I think that The Lazy Song by Bruno Mars has serious potential for a summer anthem. It has a cool beat and matches the mood of easy, summer days.
– Dani Wong, Contributing Writer, Northeastern University
I am inexplicably a huge fan of Ke$ha so anything that involves her makes me look forward to all the fun that summer has to offer. ‘Till The World Ends’ gets my vote for this year’s summer anthem — I mean, Ke$ha, Britney AND Nicki Minaj? The only person they’re missing is Lady Gaga.
