I’ve found that the two colors that are mostly hotly debated in the hardcore world of nail polish shades (ha. ha. ha.) are yellow and green. So I’m sorting through the green polishes and sharing the dos and don’ts of this somewhat risky hue.
Mint Green Polish: YES!
I love mint green polish. It can have a really preppy look — if you want it too. But it can also be very trendy and fashionable. It looks polished regardless, excuse the pun. This shade by Borghese is a little shinier than mint colors I’ve liked in the past, but i actually ended up really liking it (plus it dried really fast!! winning!).
Neon Green: NO!
I really do love neon polishes — definitely purple, pink, yellow, even blue, maybe orange. But neon green, I’m just not feeling it. It looks too alien and costume-y to work as a respectable color. But if you disagree, let me know by leaving a comment. Maybe you’ll be the one to change me.
Dark Green: YES!
For those questioning to go green or not, dark green is definitely your best bet. This new shade from OPI’s Kardashian Kolors, “Khloe Had A Little Lam-Lam” is dark and subtle. It looks like a perfect shade for fall!
Green Shatter: NO!
The thought of putting green shatter over a color — and for some reason the only color I can think to put underneath it would be white (unless you went super-preppy and did pink underneath) — is not appealing to me. White with green shatter over it reminds me of mold in a bathroom or kitchen, not exactly what I’m trying to convey on my nails. However, I have tried turquoise shatter and white polish on my toes, and have to admit I sort of liked it.
