CollegeBudget founder Mike Moradian is facing a big dilemma: to go to Harvard Business School or to continue building CollegeBudget.com, a website that offers students exclusive savings to fit a college budget?
When making big decisions, we weigh the pros and cons, consult close friends and family, and probably turn the options over and over (and over) in our minds. Mike’s taking it one step further — he’s reaching out to America and asking for you to vote “yes” or “no” on Harvard.
Along with a group of his friends, Mike founded CollegeBudget in order to “revolutionize student discounts and save students a ton of money.” Though the company currently provides deals on the products students love, like clothing, food and electronics, it is working on saving students money on big purchases and textbooks — and in the future, ultimate aims to lower the cost of tuition.
Harvard Business School is an “unbelievable chance,” Mike says, but also adds that he believes he can “make a bigger influence right now, right here.” But in order to make that difference, Mike explains that he needs a crowd of support and people who are willing to grow with him and with his company.
So why crowdsource this decision? “Because it affects you too! The cost of college has spiraled out of control over the past decade. I want to make a difference now and help students save real money through group buying and collective action. If I’m going to skip out on Harvard to do this, I need to know that America is behind me. So please, cast your vote now!” Mike urges.
What do you think of Mike’s decision-making strategy — is it smart to reach out to the public, or is it a decision he needs to make on his own? And have YOU voted yet?
