This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pitt chapter and does not reflect the views of Her Campus.

As the national branch of Her Campus partners with the national nonprofit ‘She’s the First,’ it only made sense for Her Campus Pitt and ‘She’s the First Pitt’ to join together as well. With similar goals that aim to empower women, Becca and I quickly decided to meet up and discuss how we could work together this year.

Becca explained to me what exactly ‘She’s the First’ is and all the exciting events and fundraisers that will be taking place here on campus at Pitt. ‘She’s the First’ is a relatively new organization that encourages young people our age to find creative ways to raise money for young women in developing nations to continue to attend school.

On September 11th from 2 to 4pm Becca will be holding a Meet & Greet in the amphitheater by Posvar for all new members and those interested in hearing more about the new student organization. ‘Tie-dye cupcakes will be involved!’ Becca told me.

Later this year ‘She’s the First’ will be having a huge Tie-Dye Cupcake Bake-Off to celebrate their first birthday and continue to raise awareness about the group and get more people involved.

There is also a national competition hosted by Her Campus and She’s the First  to find the best designs for the tee shirts that will be distributed nationwide at colleges for the Tie-Dye Cupcake Bake-Off. Got what it takes? Enter here!

If creativity is your thing and you are looking for a way to really make a difference, be sure to ‘Like’ their Facebook page to stay up to date on upcoming events.
