Hello, kittens!
It’s time for some more updates from this past Fashion Week! All photos by moi.
First I bring you the Spring/Summer 2012 collection from Tibi, a brilliant line designed by Amy Smilovic. While Tibi is normally known for its bold, artistic prints (all of which Smilovic designs herself), this collection featured less prints and more solids. Garments had sleek but flowy lines, with a loosely fitted palazzo pant and Grecian-style dresses at the helm. I loved the way this collection looked on the runway, as if a cool breeze rushed its way through the folds of each piece. Strangely enough, looking at the collection made me understand the way Smilovic experiences summer–for her, it seems like it’s a time for chic, uncomplicated looks that let the wearer experience the season and not hide from it.
Renowned designer Vivienne Tam debuted her yoga wear collection, a collaboration with Chinese athletic company LI-NING, during this past Fashion Week as well. Tam, who is an active yogi herself, made the collection with fashion and function in mind. The collection features bright colors and bold prints in fabrics that breathe and even have antibacterial properties. Tam’s collection was modeled by several yogis in a presentation outside in Lincoln Center, choregraphed by yoga power couple Rodney and Cathleen Yee.
