We’re all guilty of it. We get up on Monday morning and think, “Crap, I have to go to class.” We crawl out of bed, put on a baggy pair of sweatpants and an oversized t-shirt, and walk out the door. Or you put on your favorite PINK yoga pants with glitter on the butt with a too tight t-shirt that says “OMG I LOVE PINK” all over it.
Well, don’t. You walk around all day looking like a spitting image of your boyfriend, or a giant ball of glitter that leaves a trail behind it when it moves. I know it’s hard to get up in the morning (especially Monday morning) and want to put actual clothes on. I’m not saying you have to. All I’m saying is to try these comfy alternatives so that we can all be spared from the monotony of the clothing that defines our laziness.
This Foldover Lounge Pant from Aerie ($34.50) is a perfect alternative to your baggy sweatpants. Still a little baggy through the thigh, it’s fitted enough so it doesn’t look like you’re swimming in your clothes. And the tapered leg allows you to change up your look depending on the weather.
These awesome patterned leggings are a great alternative to your PINK sweatpants. From Urban Outfitters, running at $39.00, these leggings are a comfy way to spice things up without the glitter. Patterned leggings are also a great trend for the fall season, so be comfy and chic in these fantastic leggings.
For those of us that can’t afford forty dollar sweatpants (like me), this is my personal favorite. For fourteen dollars, you can get two pairs of these comfortable sweatpants from Fruit of the Loom at Wal-Mart. Yes, I did say Wal-Mart. Look in the men’s section for these “skinny sweats,” and make sure to buy a size smaller than you usually do.
A spot-on trend for fall, this Letterman Cardigan from Forever21 ($27.80) is a perfect pullover for those lazy days. Wear your favorite tank top or graphic tee underneath for a comfortable but trendy look.
Quit wearing your boyfriend’s sweatshirts with this simple Pullover Sweatshirt from Urban Outfitters ($29-$39). Since many of our sweatpants are shades of grey and black, wear this to add a pop of color to your outfit.
This “Light as Air Mohair” sweater from Aerie ($39.50) is perfect for those days when it’s hot but you still want to wear long sleeves. The comfy mesh material allows your torso to breath, while still being able to cover up after a long weekend, or a long week of classes. But please, wear a tank top underneath it.
So let’s retire the glitter and give your boyfriends their sweats back. No longer will your classmates look at you and think, “That girl looks ROUGH.” With these comfortable alternatives to oversized and over done sweats, look trendy and chic even on the toughest of days.
Peace and love.
