Hey, Barnard! So, I kind of feel like an addict who is about to come clean. All right, perhaps that was too dramatic.
It’s true, I am a music-phile and not many people know this side of me–perhaps that is because I don’t dress like a major hipster and walk around with Beats headphones in my ears. #hatestereotypes.
However, for those of you who are still unconvinced about my passion for music, here goes a little reassurance. This summer I had the real privilege of interning at one of the legendary music organizations, BMG Chrysalis in New York. It represents a truly impressive range of artists and songwriters such as Celine Dion, The Script, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez, David Bowie, Will.I.Am (Black Eyed Peas), La Roux, The Beach Boys and many others.
While it would have been really cool to meet all of these fabulous people, what I was able to do on a day-to-day basis was just as exciting. I was allowed (actually encouraged) to listen to music all day long. Literally, all day long. Don’t get me wrong, I did have “real” assignments, but exploring new music was definitely one of them.
It was actually at BMG when I first heard this new and oh-so talented artist, Madi Diaz(who was recently signed to the company!) I decided to feature her song, “Let’s Go” for my new blog, “Stuck in My Head” seeing that this song has actually been occupying ample brain space since I first heard it in July.
Her song, a whimsical and catchy, indie- folk song takes the universal hardship of moving on and shows how hard it is to express in plain words. You can understand her confusion with each of her “oh’s.” It’s like she has plans and ideas, but can’t get herself there yet. Yet, there is a sense of positivity, which can be felt through the upbeat melody. Wonder what you all make of this song!
