Actress Leisha Hailey of “The L-Word,” was kicked off a plane on Monday for what the airline says was excessive PDA with her girlfriend.
Hailey and her girlfriend, Camilla Grey were first asked to stop their behavior, and then asked to leave when Hailey became upset by the request. Hailey says an airline attendant told her Southwest “was a family airline and kissing was not okay.” She promptly tweeted “I have been discriminated against,” and shortly after “Since when is showing affection towards someone you love illegal? I want to know what Southwest Airlines considers as ‘family.”
Many are accusing the airline of singling out the lesbian couple, but Southwest disagrees. “Initial reports indicate that we received several passenger complaints characterizing the behavior as excessive. Our crew, responsible for the comfort of all customers on board, approached the passengers based solely on behavior and not gender,” Southwest said in a statement.
Hailey also tweeted that she has video and and audio of their actions, and is asking others to boycott the airline.
