HC NYU: Can you tell NYU collegiettesTM a little bit about what Intern Queen is what it does?
KP: Intern Queen is basically an amazing, one-stop shop for all of your internship needs – the site lists all internship opportunities in your area, and basically allows you to apply for the ones you’re interested, all at once!

HC NYU: How did you get involved with Intern Queen?
KP: I had previously used the site to look around for internships, and noticed that the Intern Queen herself, Lauren Berger, was looking for Campus Ambassadors. I applied for the position, and here we are :)

HC NYU: What exactly does your Campus Ambassador position entail?
KP: Campus Ambassadors spread the Intern Queen website love throughout campus and blog for the Intern Queen website. We also work with various student organizations to get Lauren to come to campus and speak!

HC NYU: What internships have you held?
KP: I’ve been interning and working in tech startups since junior year of high school, and it’s a hugely important part of my life. I’ve been interning at an NYC startup called LocalResponse for the past several months, and I love it here! The team is amazing and I can’t imagine being anywhere else.

HC NYU: Why do you personally feel internships are important for college students?
KP: I’m a huge proponent of interning – as excellent as NYU’s education and professors are, there is absolutely something to be said about learning outside of the classroom. Internships and jobs are a great way to not only get valuable experience, but also to forge professional and personal relationships. Through my internships over the past 2-3 years, I’ve met so many incredible people who have proved to be both helpful mentors as well as good friends. I strongly encourage any and all NYU students, regardless of age or experience, to start interning!

HC NYU: What advice could Intern Queen give college students searching for internships?
KP: I’ve actually had a chance to meet Lauren Berger herself, and she’s really helpful. Aside from using the Intern Queen website, it’s really important to continue pushing yourself – perfecting your resume, networking around your campus/city, trying new things, learning about new industries. Campus Ambassadors all throughout the nation actually blog on a daily basis about various internship/college advice we have: http://www.internqueen.com/blog/

HC NYU: What other clubs, organizations, etc. are you involved with on campus?
KP: In addition to being a Campus Ambassador for Intern Queen, I’m also Campus Ambassador for foursquare! I’ve held Vice Presidency for the Class of 2014 in Stern Student Council for two years now, and I’m also Communications Director for NYU’s Vietnamese Students’ Association. The tech-savvy foodie in me earned the position of Social Media Chair for NYU’s Restaurateur Club, and I also just recently joined Tech@NYU‘s e-board as marketing officer. So when I’m not in a club meeting, you can find me running around campus – so stop and say hi!
