It’s hard to believe it’s been over 6 months since the catwalks were showing the Fall trends that we’re wearing now. So no hard feelings if you’re a little rusty on your Fall fashion do’s and don’t’s, here is a little refresher of the Fall RTW runway and how to bring it to Colby!
1. Men’s inspired clothing- Pants graced the runways and presentations by every designer from alice & olivia to Oscar de la Renta. Whether the pants were high wasted, wide-legged, patterned, or part of a jump suit, they were quite flattering. Why not try a combination? These Oscar de la Renta wide-legged, high wasted pants accentuate the waist and elongate the legs, but the $850 price tag may not be very welcomed at Colby College. These Trina Turk lookalikes, on the other hand, for $240 are a great staple for your fall wardrobe. Pair with a tucked in tank and flats and you’ll own the look.
2. The Jacket- How can we forget the blazers with a touch of femininity, i.e. the cropped cuts from Bill Blass or patterns at Balmain?
These gave the blazer a new flair. So how do we incorporate them into our wardrobe for Colby? Try a cropped blazer (Aqua $88) with a patterned tank and jeans, or with a cotton dress. Not into the blazer look? Try an embroidered jacket in tweed, patches, or lace with a basic skirt, cropped pants, or jeans.
3. Color and Patterns- Emilio Pucci wasn’t the only designer with patterns and color for Fall. A plethora of designers showcased jewel tones, enlarged floral patterns, and textures. While you’ll probably never wear this look from Gucci,
you’ll definitely want to wear the color. Try this cashmere sweater from J. Crew ($228) with cropped khakis, a belt, and brown flats. Want a flirtier look? This Aqua dress ($217) can be worn out with heels or with a tan jacket and boots during the day to school.
Whatever you may decide to wear this season, remember the most important thing is to feel comfortable in your clothes. Don’t just choose something because it’s “in.” Look and find what you like and make it your own.
What are your favorite trends this season and how have you personalized them?
